The Community Council of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc. (CCMA) announces the appointment of Mrs. R. Karriemah Muhammad to the position of Executive Director, effective June 1, 2020. In her capacity as Executive Director, Mrs. Muhammad will oversee all daily operations of the organization under the direction of the President/CEO, and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, ensuring that all organizational initiatives are effectively implemented to deliver success outcomes.
In 2008, CCMA was founded by Norma Joy Barnes as a 501(c)(3) non-profit to serve young Black men, 18-28 years of age, in need of counseling, job readiness training, education, personal development, and employment. Additionally, CCMA coordinates the Priority Male Empowerment Network (PMEN), a collaborative network of metro Atlanta nonprofits focused on providing a broad range of services to young Black males, including education, specialized vocational training, housing, healthcare, social justice and other critical resources. Ms. Barnes. CEO/President, highly recommended Mrs. Muhammad to fill the Executive Director position, after collaborating with her in community action initiatives for several years and is honored that the position was offered and accepted.
Board Chairman, Evan Toulon states, “Karriemah is a significant leadership addition to the CCMA team. A long-time supporter of CCMA, her core values, knowledge, and professional expertise coupled with her connection to the Atlanta metropolitan community made it an easy decision for the CEO, Board, and me. We are excited to receive her creativity, energy, and effort in advancing the cause of the organization in service of our clients.”
In addition to her non-profit work, Mrs. Muhammad is a Professor and Consultant, with in depth experience in Project Management, Program Management and Business Administration. Her expertise in building programs, project development and team building perfectly complements the existing CCMA vision and mission. Mrs. Muhammad holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Media Arts: Radio, Television & Film from Clark Atlanta University, and a Master of Business Administration from American Intercontinental University.
